Wholesome Residing for ME pronounces “Constructing Higher Caregivers” workshop

Healthy Living for ME offers a free, six-week, interactive workshop called Building Better Caregivers. During this workshop, nurses can come together to learn and receive support from others who have similar nursing experiences; This is beneficial because caregiving itself is a new role for many caregivers – one that, as with any new job, requires training and support.

The six-part “Building Better Caregivers” program helps caregivers of all types (family, formal, informal, etc.) to better understand and manage the changes their relatives are experiencing.

This program helps caregivers who help family members with memory loss or dementia, as well as those caring for those with traumatic brain injury or post-traumatic stress disorder. Participants in the workshop learn how to identify and deal with the behavior of their caregiver partners, how to track this information with the help of a behavior diary and much more. Other topics include coping with stress for caregivers, decision-making and future planning, effective communication with family, friends and health professionals, legal questions related to care, hiring assistance and much more.

This workshop is free and public, but registration is required. Call us at 1-800-620-6036 or email [email protected] for more information and to sign up. The upcoming workshop will take place on Mondays from July 26th to August 30th from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm, with classes taking place virtually via Zoom.

Healthy Living for ME is the Community Integrated Health Network, which supports all five Maine District Agencies for Aging and other community providers in delivering a variety of programs.
