Wholesome Dwelling Market and Cafe Hires Chef Michael Daley

Healthy Living Market and Café has added Chef Michael Daley to the culinary team at the South Burlington, Vermont location. Daley will partner with Healthy Living’s growing culinary talents to further develop the independent chef’s recently launched HL Fresh line.

He joins Healthy Living after a long career in the hospitality industry, having managed both Michelin-starred and AAA Five Diamonds kitchens. As the culinary director and head chef at Mourad Lahlou’s Mourad and Aziza restaurants in San Francisco at the start of the coronavirus pandemic, Daley addressed the shutdown and worked to alleviate growing food insecurity in the area. Under his leadership, the restaurants partnered with World Central Kitchen to feed more than 23,000 people in need over a period of 10 weeks. He also worked with Family House San Francisco, a child cancer center, to provide 400 meals a week to children at risk and their families. To help stabilize the restaurants’ finances, Daley developed a meal package program, Mourad at Home, that kept staff busy and generated income.

At Healthy Living, Daley focuses on HL Fresh’s robust, changing menu of seasonal, local and homemade dishes prepared in a kitchen that emphasizes creativity and the highest quality ingredients.

“At Healthy Living, I work with chefs who share the same ideals as I do,” noted Daley. “We cook from scratch and cook seasonally. I work in the café and I’m still a chef, but with more creative freedom. I look forward to working with like-minded professional chefs with an incredible talent. “

The retailer’s chefs also include VP of Culinary Matthew Jennings, Culinary Director Scott Como, and Chefs Derek Robert and Jimmy Winslow.
