A wise and knowledgeable person told me years ago that your taste buds are going to change, but until recently I never understood how true that is.

We all know that some changes occur because it happens to us with a lot of foods over time.

As you get older, it makes sense to develop a taste for certain vegetables and veggies that you wouldn’t eat in your teens and twenties, right?

Foods that most people crave as children, such as sweet cookies and cakes, sometimes lose their appeal with age and the taste for new things develops.

What I noticed is this: It takes more than just trying a particular food a few times on your own. When done with intent and care, your taste buds can and will change.

Before you know it, give healthy foods a try.

So how do you win the battle between healthy eating and junk food?

In most cases it takes longer and involves “lightning” the food and mixing it with other flavors to suit.

Here’s a perfect example: Haven’t you ever liked cucumbers? Try something new by adding a slice of cucumber to a smoothie and see what happens.

You might notice the taste the first time around, but there are so many other flavors out there that you won’t pay much attention to them. Next time add two slices and taste the taste again.

After doing this for several weeks, you may find that the smoothie will taste better over time. Shocking!

Now you can try a couple of salads with a small amount of cucumber.

This way you train your taste buds to lovable certain foods you never liked – how cool!

There have been numerous foods over the past year that I’ve changed my mind about after not liking for a lifetime, and cucumber is one of them.

I occasionally tried some foods that I knew would be beneficial even when I didn’t like them, like radishes, cucumber, and celery, to name a few.

I now passionately believe that we are in control of the foods we eat for the sake of our health, rather than being a slave to the almighty taste buds.

Taste buds are not your boss – it’s the other way around!

There are some foods you can always stay away from, so I’m not suggesting that you will change your mind and taste buds about anything.

However, if you want to take steps to eat healthier food, it is a lot easier than you might think.

Can you imagine the ways that your health, vitality, and energy could improve if you stopped craving or disliking unhealthy foods and started enjoying useful and nutritious foods?

Give your taste buds a chance to change and not only will you release the flavors of a healthy diet, but your body will respond in many positive ways and with gratitude for your efforts!
