SeniorenPlus Could workshops for wholesome residing

LEWISTON – SeniorsPlus has announced its Online Education Center courses for May. Due to the pandemic and current CDC guidelines, all courses will practically take place at this time. Courses and workshops are free unless otherwise stated.

Healthy Living Workshops for Me include Tai Chi for Health and Balance, Better Health NOW, Better Health Now with Diabetes Toolkit, Better Health Now with Pain Toolkit, and our Living Well workshops on Zoom.

The good life with diabetes through Zoom is scheduled for Thursday, May 4th through June 8th, from 8:00 am to 11:30 am at Zoom.

This workshop is aimed at people who live with diabetes, have diabetes or support someone who is dealing with diabetes. The workshop offers strategies for dealing with his symptoms. Topics include: techniques for dealing with frustration, fatigue, isolation, and insomnia; adequate exercise to maintain and improve strength; Meal planning; effective communication with family, friends, and health professionals; Nutrition; Pacemaker activity and rest; and how to evaluate new treatments. Participants will receive all workshop materials in the mail prior to the start of the workshop.

Better Health Now with Pain Toolkit is set one-on-one by phone or zoom on Thursdays from May 6th to June 10th at 9 or 11 a.m.

Better Health Now With Pain Is A Self-Directed, Evidence-Based Program. The program is designed to help individuals deal with chronic illnesses with an emphasis on pain management. Topics include: techniques for dealing with frustration, fatigue, isolation, and insomnia; adequate exercise to maintain and improve strength; appropriate use of medication, effective communication with family, friends, and health professionals; Nutrition; Pacemaker activity and rest; and how to evaluate new treatments. The participants of the workshop work individually before the weekly check-in by 1-1 moderators or small groups. Participants will receive the toolkit materials in the mail prior to the start of the workshop.

Better Health Now With Diabetes Toolkit is available by phone or Zoom on Tuesdays May 11th to June 15th at 9:00 am and 11:00 am and 1:00 pm.

The self-directed, evidence-based program is designed to help participants deal with chronic illnesses with an emphasis on diabetes management. Topics include: techniques for treating the symptoms of diabetes, fatigue, pain, hyper / hypoglycemia, stress, depression, anger, anxiety and frustration; adequate exercise to maintain and improve strength and endurance; healthy diet, appropriate use of medicines; and work with health care providers. The participants work individually before the weekly check-in by 1-1 moderators or small groups. Participants will receive the toolkit materials in the mail prior to the start of the workshop.

Tai Chi for Health and Balance by Zoom is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from July 27th to September 30th at 10am (video and audio required).

The cost is $ 20 per person. It is necessary to refrain from participating in Tai Chi before a recurring Zoom meeting is offered.

Tai chi is an exercise that can improve balance, relieve pain, and improve health and ability to do things. It’s a slow exercise. It is easy to learn and suitable for all skill levels. The main principles of Tai Chi include the integration of body and mind, fluid movements, controlled breathing and mental concentration.
