SeniorenPlus Could workshops for wholesome dwelling

LEWISTON – SeniorsPlus has announced its Online Education Center courses for May 2021. Due to the pandemic and current CDC guidelines, all courses will practically take place at this time. HEALTHY LIFE FOR ME

We have planned our virtual HL4ME workshops for 2021! Workshops currently include Tai Chi for Health and Balance, Better Health NOW, Better Health Now with Diabetes Toolkit, Better Health Now with Pain Toolkit, and our Living Well workshops on Zoom! Below is a brief list of the upcoming workshops and their schedules. If you want to register for one and don’t see a day and time that work for you, get in touch! We have more workshops planned over the course of 2021 and would love to take you to a workshop that works best for you and your schedule.

Live well with diabetes through zoom

Date: Thursday, May 4th to June 8th

Time: 9: 00-11: 30 a.m.

Location: Zoom

This workshop is aimed at people who live with diabetes, have diabetes or support someone who is dealing with diabetes. The workshop offers strategies for dealing with his symptoms. Topics include: techniques for dealing with frustration, fatigue, isolation, and insomnia; adequate exercise to maintain and improve strength; Meal planning; effective communication with family, friends, and health professionals; Nutrition; Pacemaker activity and rest; and how to evaluate new treatments. Participants will receive all workshop materials in the mail prior to the start of the workshop.

Better health now with Pain Toolkit

Date: Thursday, May 6th to June 10th

Time: 9:00 am-10:00am OR 11:00 am-12:00pm

Location: 1-1 phone or zoom

Better Health Now With Pain Is A Self-Directed, Evidence-Based Program. The program is designed to help individuals deal with chronic illnesses with an emphasis on pain management. Topics include: techniques for dealing with frustration, fatigue, isolation, and insomnia; adequate exercise to maintain and improve strength; appropriate use of medication, effective communication with family, friends, and health professionals; Nutrition; Pacemaker activity and rest; and how to evaluate new treatments. The participants of the workshop work individually before the weekly check-in by 1-1 moderators or small groups. Participants will receive the toolkit materials in the mail prior to the start of the workshop.

Better health now with Diabetes Toolkit

Date: Tuesday, May 11th to June 15th

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. OR 1:00 a.m. – 2:00 a.m.

Better Health Now With Diabetes is a self-directed, evidence-based program. The program is designed to help participants deal with chronic illnesses with an emphasis on diabetes management. Topics include: techniques for treating the symptoms of diabetes, fatigue, pain, hyper / hypoglycemia, stress, depression, anger, anxiety and frustration; adequate exercise to maintain and improve strength and endurance; healthy diet, appropriate use of medicines; and work with health care providers. The participants of the workshop work individually before the weekly check-in by 1-1 moderators or small groups. Participants will receive the toolkit materials in the mail prior to the start of the workshop.

Tai Chi for health and balance through zoom

Date: Tuesday / Thursday, July 27th to September 30th

Time: 10: 00-11: 00 a.m.

Location: Zoom (video & audio required)

Cost: $ 20.00 per person

Other: Waiver of participation in Tai Chi is required before a recurring Zoom meeting is provided.

Tai chi is a fun exercise that can improve balance, relieve pain, and improve health and ability to do things. It’s a slow exercise. It is easy to learn and suitable for all skill levels. The main principles of Tai Chi include the integration of body and mind, fluid movements, controlled breathing and mental concentration. Tai chi is one of the most effective exercises for mind and body health. It helps people relax and feel better.
