Out of doors yoga is again at Sewall Wholesome Dwelling Heart at Sharp Coronado Hospital –
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Take advantage of the jealous San Diego weather to get outside and enjoy yoga.
Jenny Driessen, training specialist and yoga teacher at the Sewall Healthy Living Center at Sharp Coronado Hospital.
Classes are currently held outside the Sharp Coronado Hospital.
The benefits of yoga, Driessen said, abound: it can stretch your body, clear your head, lower your blood pressure, help you fall asleep – and especially in the last year, help people connect.
Lots of people had nothing on their schedule on that class besides her, Driessen said, and with online yoga classes people could still chat, people see and be seen even while the pandemic was raging outside.
Yoga is exceptionally good for mental health, helps move the body while breathing, suppress the chatter and static excitement in the mind that can arise all day from worries about the past and future, and brings you in in the present moment.
The spine moves in six different directions and houses the central nervous system, and movement in these six different directions frees up the lines of communication in the body.
“Chair yoga” is yoga for everyone who needs help with balance, explains Driessen.
