NAFED launches fortified rice bran oil to advertise wholesome residing
Food and Public Distribution Secretary Sudhanshu Pandey today emailed Nafed Fortified Rice Bran Oil. Shri Sudhanshu Pandey said on the occasion that this Nafed initiative would significantly reduce the country’s dependence on imported cooking oil in the future. He also said that this will open up more opportunities for Indian edible oil manufacturers and will also give a boost to the prime minister’s Aatmnirbhar Bharat initiative. This rice bran oil is marketed by Nafed (National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd).
Arun Singhal, Chief Executive Officer, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Sanjeev Kumar Chaddha, Managing Director, Nafed and Atish Chandra, Chairman & Managing Director, Food Corporation of India (FCI) are also present at the e-launch .
On this occasion, CMD, FCI announced that a MoU was recently signed between Nafed and FCI on the production and marketing of fortified rice kernels.
Regarding this initiative, Nafed General Manager Sanjeev Kumar Chaddha said this initiative will provide easy access to high quality Nafed brand rice bran oil, which will also give a boost to the domestic oil industry.
It should be noted that rice bran oil has several health benefits, including lowering cholesterol due to its low levels of trans fats and high levels of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids. It also acts as a booster and reduces the risk of cancer due to the high content of vitamin E. This oil is recommended by the American Heart Association and the World Health Organization (WHO) as one of the best substitutes for other edible oils. Nafed rice bran oil is fortified and ensures it has additional nutrients and vitamins. According to the FSSAI, fortified oil can help a person meet 25-30% of the recommended food intake for vitamins A and D. Nafed enriched rice bran oil will be available in all Nafed stores and also on various online platforms.
