Feeding in Southwest Virginia gives classes in wholesome meals in Roanoke

ROANOKE, VA. (WFXR) – On Wednesday, children in Roanoke Valley had an opportunity to have fun and learn along the way.

An event organized by Feeding Southwest Virginia was held at the Melrose Library.

Children were given “10 farmer’s market money” to buy fresh fruit and vegetables, to educate children about healthy food and the value of a dollar.

Feeding Southwest Virginia also has a Feed and Read program every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at most Roanoke city libraries.

Children receive a warm meal for the day as well as food and snacks for the next day.
