Digital workshop for wholesome dwelling, deliberate by the Gaston Senior Heart
The Centralina Area Agency on Aging is running a series of vibrant virtual workshops starting Wednesday May 5 at the Gaston County’s Seniors Center.
The last day you can register for this class is May 4th. Places are limited and interested parties are encouraged to call and register quickly.
Living Healthy is a six-week program for people with chronic illnesses and their caregivers, according to the organizers.
Chronic illnesses are ongoing health problems and include diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, depression, heart disease, chronic pain, anxiety, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, and others.
“We warmly welcome everyone to take part in this free class. The aim is to help people cope better with their health and deal with the frustrations, fatigue and pain that can be associated with a chronic illness, ”said organizer Farrell Briethaupt.
During the workshop, participants will receive support from trained leaders and other workshop participants, learn practical ways to manage their pain and fatigue, learn about diet and exercise options, understand new treatment options, and learn better ways to talk to doctors and family members about their conditions communicate members.
During the six-week session, attendees receive support from trained leaders and other workshop participants, learn practical ways to deal with stress and fatigue, learn about healthy diet and exercise options, foot care, relaxation techniques, and learn better ways to communicate about their diabetes condition with Doctors and family members, problem solving and goal setting.
Living Healthy was founded by the Stanford University Patient Education Research Center and is supported by the NC Center for Health and Wellness at UNC Asheville.
The state’s goal is to bring healthy options within reach for all North Carolinians. Providing these self-management workshops can help ensure that people with chronic diseases like diabetes receive the support they need to access these options and live well.

Participants need a PC, tablet or smartphone to participate. However, it can be difficult to see part of the presentation on a small screen.
Participants also need the ZOOM client loaded on their device. You can request setup assistance by contacting the class teacher.
Participants will receive a weekly email with a link to the ZOOM session.
This is a free class. All materials are provided free of charge. This class is virtual so you can attend from the safety and comfort of your home.
Classes start on May 5th and end on June 9th and take place daily from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
